Editorial Standards

Trust depends on being clear about what we know, how we know it, and what we correct. These standards guide the publication of news and explanatory articles at The Well Times.

Accuracy before publication

We aim to check key facts against reliable primary material whenever it is available, including documents, official data, direct statements and original research. Where information cannot be independently verified, the article should identify it as a claim and attribute it. Headlines, images and captions should reflect the substance of the story. We avoid presenting an allegation as an established fact.

Developing stories and context

Breaking stories can change. An early account should say what is confirmed, what is attributed to a source and what remains unknown. Significant new information may be incorporated with an updated publication date. We aim to include relevant background and competing evidence where they materially affect understanding of the story.

Attribution and original work

We identify sources of factual claims and credit reporting by other organizations when it informs a story. Quotes must remain faithful to their source and context. Research findings should be described with their limitations, particularly in science and health reporting. We do not present another outlet’s reporting as our own firsthand work.

Bylines and editorial pen names

The site may display one of ten English-language editorial pen names or “The Well Times Editorial Team.” A pen name is a publication label chosen in the post editor. It does not establish that the named person has a specific identity, title, credential or reporting history. The same byline appears on article pages and the site’s article metadata.

Corrections and updates

We review specific, supported reports of material errors. When a factual correction is warranted, we aim to amend the article promptly and make consequential changes clear to readers. Minor edits for spelling, style or formatting may be made without a separate note. Send the article URL, the disputed detail and supporting evidence to RayMelisa644@gmail.com.

Independence and commercial content

Editorial decisions should be guided by news value and accuracy. Any paid or sponsored material should be clearly labeled and kept distinguishable from independent news coverage. Advertising should not be presented as an editorial recommendation.

Tools and automation

Automated tools may assist with routine production work, but a human editor remains responsible for checking factual claims, attribution and the final published article. An automated summary or generated text should not be treated as a verified source.
